Little time, no time?

How often do we find ourselves running out of time? Is it really time we are short of? Or purpose and passion?

“Never say that you have no time. On the whole it is those who are busiest who can make time for yet more, and those who have more leisure time who refuse to do something when asked. What we lack is not time, but heart.”

Lessons on the road

The past weekend was a long-weekend in Singapore, because of two ethnic holidays in succession: Deepavali (Hindu) and Hari Raya Puasa (Islam).

I decided to catch up on some exercise by rollerblading at East Coast Park. This is a long stretch of beach with a fairly long bike track (about 20km 1-way) hugging the coastline. Here is a couple of observations I made while on the move.

Colour scheme

Here is a very cool tool which I am using to experiment with different colour schemes: the Color Scheme Generator. Basically this is a web interface that allows you to quickly see various combinations, at different “temperatures”, degree of contrast, and what sort of contrasts, etc. Try it for yourself!

Time machine

Quite by chance, discovered the Internet Archive which as claimed on the front page

“…is building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form.”

What’s so special, I can hear you asking? Well, there’s a what’s called the Wayback Machine which lets you to see what a website used to look like. Cool, isn’t it!?

Ride of your life!

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather with a cold beer in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “Woo-hoo, what a ride!!”

Random find

As blogging becomes more and more mainstream – I even saw a current affairs segment talking about this phenomenon recently and, hey, it may even be considered hip in some places 🙂 – I am always amazed by the quality/humorous writings I can find out there. Here is an example of good writing with a twist: German tourists by Waiter Rant. And if you have the time, don’t miss the story about Heimlich manoeuvre and the infamous spoon!
