While reading an article Blogger: Catch Me If You Can posted on Wired News*, happened to see a piece related to blogging. I was naturally quite keen, and, before I knew it, I was reading about a blog supposedly set up by Isabella, a rich heiress on the run from evil relatives out to get her estate! Sounds like cloak-and-dagger stuff made for novels, right?
Final book
Now about a third of the way into Book 10 in the Left Behind series, The Remnant. This is the last book from the ebook series that I have. By the way, Book 11, Armageddon (soon to be followed by Book 12, Glorious Appearing), has been released recently. I suppose these are probably the last ones, since we are close to the “end”!?
Seeing colours
The website is back up, and sporting a new look. At this stage, pretty happy with the colour scheme, so hopefully there won’t be significant changes in near future.
Picking up the pieces
From time to time, things happen for no apparent reason, and we are then left to pick up the pieces. A couple of months ago, in a hurry to get out of the house, I accidentally knocked over a small ceramic pen-holder. It fell to the ground and shattered into many pieces. I was naturally quite upset since it was a gift from a friend. It felt like a small breach of trust, since something meaningful entrusted to me is irrevocably damaged.
Of course, what was done could not be reversed, and there was no return to how things were. Life goes on. So, making the best of a bad situation, I attempted to put the pieces back together with the help of some super glue. I will post pictures of my effort next time.
What does it prove, you may ask? Well, for a start, super glue can do wonders! Seriously though, this incident reminds me once again of the impermanency of things in our lives. If we treasure the friendships we share or shared, what is in a memento?
Revisit
Tonight, decided to check out a site which I had previously bookmarked but thought I had already lost. Fortunately I vaguely remembered some keywords which allowed me to find it again.
This site was a chance discovery way back when I first started blogging. At the time, I wanted to get some ideas on what to write, how to lay out the site, etc. This site’s owner, also a relatively new comer to blogging and to :mt:, had posted some questions at the :mt: Forum.
I'm Back!
First entry on the new web host!
Still a bit confused on how I can best use the dumped output to restore MySQL entries, so I guess need to restore all the entries the long way – entry by entry! 🙁
The move
Finally went ahead and subscribed to another webhost. However, currently still on LinkSky and will continue to be on this server for a little longer while I transfer files over. There will be perhaps as much as up to 2 weeks’ downtime when I eventually change the DNS records.
To do's
A reminder of some simple tasks to implement when I return to :mt: modification:
- Have page breaks for long lists when displaying archive lists;
- Navigation bar just below the header; Done!
- Provide breadcrumbs for navigational purposes.
Favourite sci-fi series
There have been two long-running sci-fi series which I have enjoyed immensely in the past. Firstly, The Foundation Series by Issac Asimov.
This series spanned almost 40 years! The first book was based on a previous short story on robots – a revolutionary concept at that time. The final book detailing the origins one of the most central figure (through his influence rather than having him in each novel in the series), Hari Seldon, came out shortly before Asimov’s death in 1993.
